Favorite days of the week

One of my favorite days of the week is Thursday!

Thursday is the day that I have the privilege of hanging out with the team that is serving for the upcoming weekend. It is such a joy to see everyone serving where they are skilled and they totally enjoy it. We have an amazing team who are committed in presenting the word of God in a way that everyone can understand.

Everything that is presented to help others grow closer in their relationship with Christ is prayed about! The team takes this very seriously! It is so cool to the team praying Sunday morning for those coming to church. So, know that you are being prayed for in more ways than you can imagine!

I love seeing the expressions on peoples faces each weekend as they leave church! Life change is written on each person! I love what I get to do… It is a honor and a privilege!

Priceless

Well, today was one of those days where I wish I could have just waved a magic wand and started over! Wouldn’t life just be grand if that was how God designed it to be for us… Started the day off late for a meeting, dropped my phone in the toilet, and spent several hours driving from store to store helping my son find a job. Which can be very daunting with gas being $3.41 a gallon and the majority of places only take online applications.

As I reflect back on the day, it wasn’t so bad after all…the phone can be a distraction at times and it was nice to not be connected every minute of the day. The time spent with Ian driving around was priceless. As your kids get older they don’t think you are as cool as you used to be… So any amount of time one on one with them is priceless!

Bottom line for today- even if the day doesn’t start off as planned God always has something better in store!

End of Days

Tonight to we started a new series on the End of Days. Over the next four weeks we will be studying passages in the book of Revelation.

The question of the night was “when you think of Jesus, what do you see?” Some people think of Jesus as a blue eyed blonde baby, or Jesus wearing a tux with a white t-shirt.

I find it very interesting how Jesus is clearly described in Revelation:
That his hair is as white as wool and snow, to represent his wisdom, that his eyes are fiery so he can see what is in our hearts not just the outer appearance, that his feet are bronze to show his strength, his voice was loud and strong like rushing waters, his right hand held the seven stars or messengers(angels), and out of his mouth was like a double edge sword which represents how strong and piercing the word of God is. That his face was shinning in brilliance that expresses his glory.

What a beautiful picture that describes just how beautiful the groom is! After reading these descriptives, who can you think about Jesus any other way than the Savior of the world! The one and only who holds the keys to life.

Getting Organized

I was so happy to receive and iPad for Christmas! It was such a surprise from my loving husband… tears of joy streamed down my face.

With the speed of ministry a tool like this is suppose to help keep you organized. I am weaning myself from the good old stand by of paper and pen… It is taking me longer than I thought it would.

If anyone has any suggestions on what are good apps for keeping notes, to do’s and thoughts together send them my way.

Night of Pray and Worship for Haiti

As there are so many ways to help with the devastation in Haiti, our leadership thought how can we can respond? So, Matt Swartz (Outreach Pastor) and Dennis McMains (Family Pastor) went to go meet with the Haitian Christian Ministry just across the street from us. At the conclusion of their conversation, it was decided that SVCC would host the Haitian monthly Night of Prayer. On Tuesday, January 26th, we had the blessing of being a part of a multi culture Night of Prayer and Worship.

It was such a great experience to be a part of! To see people praying in Spanish, Chinese, English, and Creole it was amazing… Many different cultures all praying for the thing, to the same God. To see the support to forcefully advance the kingdom in unity was a very powerful night.

Pray for Haiti

I pray that our partnership with the Haitian Christian Church grows stronger in 2010. Actually, we will be going to Haiti with them in the next couple of months.

Vision

I love it when we take a weekend and talk about all the things that God in the previous year. 2009 was a fruitful year for Sun Valley! There were over 600 people baptized, hundreds for first time decisions to follow Christ, 200 people renewed their wedding vows, many took at step to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus going through Foundations, and on and on! I was truly amazed by all the life change. There was never a weekend that went by that you did not hear a story of how God is working in their life.

As we start on this new journey in 2010, I pray for God to bless us even more than in 2009! 2010, is going to be a year of “Iron Sharpening Iron” with continuing to grow stronger as an individual and as church.

Human Touch

As leaders we can never underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring. Even in the craziness of ministry, this simple act has the potential to turn a life around.

When was the last time you took time to stop and be aware of the smallest opportunity that could make a difference in someone elses life?

Today thank God for the for the warmth and generosity of the human spirit.
